After accommodation, you can go for lunch or dinner (depending on the time of loading). If the group has paid for meals on board, then at a certain time they will have a buffet. The only restriction is the time of the meal.
If food is not paid for, there are commercial bars and restaurants on board.
You can go to the entertainment center or go shopping.
Before arriving at the destination port, you can have breakfast on board the ferry. This will be the so-called "continental breakfast". Quite satisfying.
Arriving at the port, travellers board the bus and go on organized excursions included in the mandatory program.
It is almost always possible, after exchanging phone numbers with a guide (and agreeing on the time and place of the meeting), to go for a walk around the city on your own. Especially if travellers are already oriented in this city and have been to it more than once.
Further, the order of travel is determined by the selected tour. It can be nights on the ferry and day trips on the bus. Or maybe the next trip will be around the cities with overnight stays in hotels.
The return usually takes place by ferry. Here, travellers already know everything and they can plan their vacation on board.

With such an organization of the tour, a transfer to the ferry by bus is excluded, and the further journey takes place in the same way.
Interestingly, when boarding a ferry during the day, passengers can start lunch while the ferry has not yet left the port.
As a rule, if a group trip starts on a ferry, then it ends with the arrival of the ferry to the port.
Self-drive with private car
An independent trip with a private car includes a ferry crossing as a means of delivery to the port of the country that interests travellers.
This eliminates long transit journeys on busy roads. After all, a car and the freedom of movement that a car gives are interesting where travellers go.
By the way, such an organization of the trip allows you to save a lot. After all, the cost of the ferry can be much less than the cost of travelling by car.
